By now, who hasn’t bought something using their mobile device? Chances are if you own a mobile device, you’ve used it for more than just searching, browsing and talking, you’re also using it for shopping. A recent uSamp survey monitored the mobile shopping habits of 1,100 men and women ages 18-75, and found interesting results when it comes to how each gender is shopping on the go.
When it comes to men, you can find them shopping via mobile about 30 percent of the time they are making a digital purchase, and they are shopping:
- Most frequently at the office
- For consumer electronics and movie or event tickets
- By scanning the product’s barcode with their mobile device
On the other hand, women use their mobile devices for 20 percent of all online purchases, and they are shopping:
- Most frequently in the waiting room and at the office
- For digital content and movie or event tickets
- By taking pictures of the products they see in stores
If you’re a business, knowing that your customers are using their mobile devices to shop for your products is important; this recent study also gives businesses keen insight into how consumers shop. If your company hasn’t developed a mobile-friendly website, you’re missing out on a significant portion of potential sales. Having a desktop friendly website is no longer enough to meet the needs of today’s consumer, so going mobile is key.
